We accept light-duty pickups, heavy-duty pickups, work trucks, box trucks, flatbeds, dump trucks, cement mixers, tow trucks, fleet vehicles, commercial trailers, and Class 7 and Class 8 tractor trailers. Year and condition usually aren't the issue — if you have a clear path to the title and the truck is accessible, we can probably take it.

Almost never. We routinely accept tractor trailers, dump trucks, cement mixers, and other heavy commercial vehicles. The bigger the truck, the more transport coordination is involved, but we have heavy haulers on contract for exactly these donations. Tell us what you have and we'll arrange the right vehicle to move it.

Title issues come up often, especially with trucks that have changed hands a few times or sat unused for years. Most state DMVs can issue a duplicate title for a small fee, sometimes within a couple of weeks. Before going through that process, call us — depending on the state and the situation, there are sometimes faster paths.

Commercial vehicles often have additional paperwork — lien releases from a lender, fleet documentation, multi-owner signatures, IRP registration cards. We deal with this constantly. Have the documents ready when you call and we'll walk you through what's needed for your specific situation.

For light-duty trucks, most pickups are scheduled within two to five business days. For heavy-duty trucks and tractor trailers, scheduling can take a few extra days because we need to coordinate appropriate transport. You'll get a realistic timeline when we confirm — not a generic "soon."

The same way it works for any vehicle: your deduction is generally the sale price the truck brings at auction. Commercial trucks often sell for well over $500, in which case you'll receive IRS Form 1098-C documenting the sale figure. For smaller deductions, the IRS rules differ slightly — confirm with a tax preparer for your specific case.

The receipt is mailed within 45 days of the truck selling at auction. For most donations, the auction happens within a few weeks of pickup, so receipts typically arrive six to eight weeks after the original tow.

After standard costs — towing, transport, auction fees, processing — the remaining proceeds from your truck go directly to Salute Veterans Inc. Those funds support veteran employment programs, transition assistance, and the free public resources we run. Our 501(c)(3) financials are available on request.
